Meteghan Culture
- Meteghan is a French-speaking village.
- Many people in Meteghan are descendents of the French settlers.
- If you walk down the streets of Meteghan you will often hear the lively sounds of Acadian French.
- People in Meteghan are proud to be Acadian.
- Most people speak French, but they also speak English.

There are forests, sandy beaches and rocky cliffs in this area.

Meteghan Natural Resources
The fishing industry is very important to the Village of Meteghan. You can fish off the Meteghan wharf, or watch as local fishermen unload the fish they have caught. Lobster, scallops, cod, and halibut are popular fish in the area.
Another important resource is wood. The shipbuilding industry began in Meteghan in 1890. There is also a large lumber mill close by.

Interesting Facts
- The Micmacs or Mi’kmaqs are original natives of the Nova Scotia.
- Meteghan gets its name from the Native term "Mitihikan" meaning blue rocks.
